Chris decided the next best thing would be for us to use the funds to buy food and essentials for other camp residents.
Duly, we set about this task with enthusiasm. First, we debated who in the camp should benefit, and in what form we would hand it out. Such a decision wasn’t easy; almost every camp resident was struggling with the same issues as we were. (less the prejudice and phobia that came our way).
Buying what we decided was fun—a strange and temporary feeling of having money to spend. Of course, it wasn’t ours, but being on a mission for good also made us feel humble and grateful.
We decided to give everyone we had nominated the same, with the females receiving other necessities. So everyone received a plastic bag of selected items that are easy for them to eat or share.
Here we share a few photos from the buying, bagging up and finally handing out.
We can’t put into words the emotions we felt that day.
