Please read on to discover the various ways you can support us. Primarily, we’re asking for donations to supplement our limited rations and cover other essential costs, such as medications and basic necessities.
The reality of our situation means that every day we have challenges and choices imposed upon us. Our funding initiative aims to ease that daily struggle. Donations help support everyone in the group and, when possible, allow us to share our resources with others.
In most refugee camps, opportunities to earn an income are rare. Our only source of food comes from the meagre rations we receive from the UN World Food Programme, along with occasional help from other organisations and charities.
However, as you may have heard in recent news, the UN is facing a financial crisis, lacking sufficient funding to meet its global humanitarian needs fully.
This reality means that all refugees must live on reduced rations, or sometimes even go without, due to supply shortages.
(Rations consist only of grains, pulses like beans, peas or lentils, sometimes rice, and a little oil. We can buy other foods from the camp markets and shops, but only when we have funds to do so.)
From global news that we can access on our limited mobile phones, we appreciate that we are fortunate compared to some. Empathising with people facing harsher realities puts our circumstances into perspective, but doesn’t change our situation here in camp.
